ComScore Survey: Android Continues To Dominate The US Smartphone Market

Research firm ComScore said that there are approximately 78.5 million smartphone users in US, and 40% of them are using Android smartphone. It said that the number of smartphone users increased by 8% in the last quarter, and during this time Android's share in the smartphone market rose from 38% to 40%.
The report suggested that Android smartphones are gaining greater popularity because they are available in different handset and are backed by multiple providers. Apple's iPhone has the second place in the smartphone market with 26.6% smartphone users choosing iPhones. The battle for the smartphone market is set to intensify with the launch of Apple's iPhone 5, and with Samsung's launch of Galaxy S II handsets.
